Brewing guide
We see it everywhere – it became a household staple in the 90s and still is. The French Press. Grind, pour boiling water, press and serve. It’s easy, but let me give you a few tips anyway for optimization. First tip – don’t use very light roasted coffee. Preferably use a medium roasted coffee.
You will need
01
Fresh beans taste best
Weigh out 59g of freshly roasted specialty coffee. Grind the coffee medium-coarse. We recommend using a grinder with large blades rather than a blender-style coffee grinder.
Pour the ground coffee into the French Press.
02
The importance of water
Place the French Press on a scale. Start the timer and pour 950g of water over the coffee. The water should be 92-96 degrees and preferably filtered for limescale.
03
Wait, wait and wait a bit more
Wait for 30 seconds and then stir the coffee. Then put the lid on the French Press. Wait for 4 minutes. And press the plunger down.
04
Time to taste
A small tip – since there’s no paper filter to catch the small dust particles, I recommend pouring half a cup for everyone and then pouring again for everyone. This way everyone gets the same taste experience.
